REDS TOP PROSPECT HUINTER GREENE BOUNCES BACK AGAINST THE BREWERS

Last week the Reds top prospect Hunter Greene had a terrible outing against the Brewers in Milwaukee. Greene pitched 2 ⅔ innings, 8 runs, 9hits, and 5 hr. At the time I felt that Reds manager David Bell had left Greene in too long and shattered his confidence. Boy was I wrong.

Greene looked confident when he took the mound Tuesday evening. Against the same Milwaukee team that obliterated the ball off of Greene in Milwaukee last week. Everything about Greene was better this week at home as Greene pitched 5 ⅓ innings allowing 4 hits, 2runs, 6 strikeouts, and 4 walks.

Greene started the first inning off shaky walking 3 batters to load the bases but was able to pitch out of the jam. He didn’t allow a hit until the 4th inning. All six of Greene’s strikeouts were with his slider getting one strikeout with three straight sliders. His velocity was also up after being down his last couple of starts. He hit 100.5.mph today and was averaging 98.4mph with his
fastball.

The Cincinnati Reds lost the game 5-4 and fell to 6-24 on the season but I was really impressed with the resolve that Hunter Greene showed and gives me hope that the Reds will get things turned around.
