Tampering. Oxford defines tampering as; to interfere with (something) in order to cause damage or make unauthorized alterations. Also to exert a secret or corrupt influence upon (someone).
The Miami Dolphins on Tuesday were stripped of their 2023 first-round pick, and 2024 third-round pick, among “other disciplinary measures” along with team owner Steven Ross being fined $1.5 million, as well as being suspended until October 17th. He will also not be allowed to attend any league meeting prior to the annual meeting in 2023. This punishment comes after a six-month investigation into conversations between Bucs QB Tom Brady, the agent of former Saints HC Sean Peyton, and the Dolphins organization, all happening between 2019 and 2022.
The conversations with Brady in the 2021 off-season were centered around him joining as a limited partner and football executive, not the Dolphins QB, although the conversations didn’t rule out the possibility of him wearing #12 for the Dolphins as well.
It was then found in 2022 the Dolphins reached out to Don Yee, the agent of the HC of the New Orleans Saints Sean Peyton (Yee also serves as Brady’s agent), about Peyton becoming the new Head Coach of the ‘Fins. This came before Peyton’s retirement, and the league’s investigation found that the Dolphins did not seek the Saints’ consent to speak to Peyton about their then-vacant role. Peyton has since retired but is still technically under contract with the Saints.
