Defensive Duel In Duval

The much-anticipated rematch between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs didn’t provide much offensive fireworks as anticipated. But the Chiefs get a gutsy road win to avoid an 0-2 start to the season.

Chris Jones aka CEO of Sack Nation looked like he didn’t need training camp as he had 1.5 sacks and provided consistent pressure against Trevor Lawrence. Good news it seems like the dropped passes that haunted KC in game one seem to have been fixed. The bad news is the offense still seems like it’s not clicking on all cylinders as of yet.

Travis Kelce did have a touchdown in his return to the starting lineup but you can tell that he’s still not 100 percent dealing with his knee injury. Penalties were also a problem for the Chiefs as they had 12 penalties with Juwaan Taylor accounting for most of the penalties being called for false starts.

The NFL has zeroed in on Taylor’s stance on the line of scrimmage and Andy Reid must figure out something before it becomes an even bigger issue. Despite 12 penalties and 3 turnovers the Chiefs still managed to come out of Jacksonville with a victory mainly because of their defense. This defense seems to be on track to be the best defense in the Mahomes era with only giving up 23 points in the first two games of the season. The defense seems faster and more physical as George Karlaftis and Leo Chanal have also come into their own early in the season.

You can argue that the Chiefs may have the best defense in the AFC as of right now and if the defense can keep this up for a whole season then the chances of a Chiefs repeat will become even more of a reality.
