ASU Sun Devils Ranked 4th In Transfer Portal

ASU Looks to Size and Competition with New Recruiting Class

Kenny Dillingham is entering his 2nd offseason and first after a full year of coaching the Sun Devils. ESPN ranked the Sun Devils’ recruiting class 48th. However, ASU ranked 4th in transfer portal class, by Rivals. the transfer portal class ranks 4th in the Nation by Rivals.

The Future Looks Bright

This is not a terrible ranking considering Dillingham is just starting to lay his groundwork in the recruiting side of things for ASU. Dillingham expressed what he was looking for in an interview on Thursday, “Good People who want to be here and that love football”. Dillingham also expressed the need to get bigger on the field as well, “The Football side of it, we wanted to get bigger and longer. I think we addressed a good amount of those needs.”

ASU Sun Devils Ranked 4th In Transfer Portal

The Sun Devils were able to pick up some big names via the transfer portal. I believe between the transfer portal and their incoming recruiting class the Sun Devils will have heavy competition at every position this spring.

Sun Devil’s Incoming Transfers

Raleek Brown is a four-star transfer, transferring out of USC. Brown is ranked as the No. 2 running back available in the transfer portal according to (247sports.com). Brown seemed excited about the transfer to his new team, “I believe they’re going to use me the way I need to be used to showcase my ability”. “I want to show the world what I can really do, and ASU is going to give me that opportunity.” Brown told Greg Biggins of 247sports’.

Kamari Wilson

Kamari Wilson a former top 50 ranked recruit in 22’ class transfers from Florida to ASU. At 6’ 205 pounds Wilson will add a big body in the secondary, Wilson ranked as a three-star transfer has a very high ceiling and 3 years of eligibility left.

Jaden Rashada is said to have played a major role in Wilson’s transfer to ASU. Rashada has a close relationship with both Wilson and Brown, helping both in their decision on where to play football this upcoming season.

Zyrus Fiaseu

Zyrus Fiaseu is coming off a stellar season for the Aztecs. Fiaseu had 66 tackles, with 31 of those tackles being solo tackles. He was able to add 11.5 tackles for a loss and totaled 5.5 sacks on the year. Zyrus won both defensive player of the year and MVP last season for San Diego State. The former three-star recruit has played above what was predicted from him if you ask me, and he will be a huge piece of the puzzle on defense next year.

Joey Su’a

Dillingham was also able to get some help on the offensive line, in OL Joey Su’a transferring out of Arkansas. At 6’4 346 LBS Su’a brings major size to the offensive line of ASU. Joey redshirted last season so it will be exciting to see him on the field moving forward. Su’a has all 4 years of eligibility left which is great news if your Jaden Rashada.

Shancco “Ise” Matautia

Coach Dillingham didn’t stop there either adding 6’2 346 lb offensive lineman Shancco “Ise” Matautia, transferring out of New Mexico. Between Matautia and Su’a Coach D has added a combined total of 692 LBS to the offensive line and an average height of 6’3. The goal was to add size to the line and that is exactly what they did. With 2 years of eligibility left Matautia will be another exciting piece on the offensive line to protect Rashada and company.
