ARIZONA STATE WINS BIG IN-HOME OPENER AGAINST NORTH ARIZONA UNIVERSITY

The Arizona State Sun Devils opened their season against Northern Arizona University Thursday night, in what turned out to be a blowout. The Sun Devils controlled the game from the opening kick holding the Lumberjacks to under 100 yards in the first half. The Sun Devils had a total of 10 first-half penalties, one of which negated an interception with 2:20 seconds left in the first half. Outside of the turnovers, the sun devils dominated the 1st half of the game holding a 24 -3 lead at the half.

The Sun Devils had a total of 107 yards on offense while Emery Jones showcased his accuracy completing 6-8 attempts with 60 yards passing.

The Sun Devils did more of the same in the second half dominating the half on both sides of the ball. NAU did not even reach Sun Devil territory until the second half and that drive ended with a fumbled snap on a field goal attempt. Emery Jones led the Sun Devils Down the field and punched it in on the ground for 1 of his 2 rushing TDs on the day. X. Valladay had a big second half picking up 2 rushing touchdowns as he ran on to his first 100-yard game of the season in his ASU Debut.
