The Kansas City Chiefs got a very rude and real awakening Sunday as they lost to the Denver Broncos 24-9, snapping the teams’ 16-game win streak against Denver.
The Broncos came out fired up on defense all game and the Chiefs offense just couldn’t get in gear. This is something we’ve been talking about a lot this season. For only the second time in the Patrick Mahomes era, the Chiefs failed to score a touchdown in a game. Now let’s let that sink in.
MAHOMES SICK
Mahomes was battling flu-like symptoms on Sunday, which was reported prior to the game. Patrick had by far his worst performance of the season. Fumbling in the red zone and throwing an interception didn’t help as the Chiefs offense went 0 for 3 in the red zone. On top of their redzone woes they turned the ball over 5 times which is another first in the Reid/Mahomes era. As good as the defense has played this season it is the offense that has been up and down for the Chiefs so far this season.
CHEIFS NOT BUILT FOR SUPERBOWL THIS YEAR
It’s obvious now to everyone that the Kansas City Chiefs DO NOT have a Super Bowl caliber Wide Receiver group at this moment and if this group does not perform better not only will the Chiefs not make the Super Bowl, but you can also witness another first in the Reid/Mahomes era being “one and done” in the playoffs.
