Chiefs Silence Hill And The Dolphins
Chiefs Silence Hill and the Dolphins in Germany!
At the halfway point of the season, we have learned two things about this 2023 version of the Chiefs. First, this is the best Chiefs defense we’ve seen since the late 90s and that’s saying a lot. And second, this is the most inconsistent we’ve seen this Chiefs offense since Patrick Mahomes became the starter in 2018.
Chiefs Offense
The Chiefs offense started fast against Miami scoring on their opening drive and it seemed like the offense was back to normal. But being shut out in the second half shows that this offense still has room for improvement. A dropped deep pass from MVS didn’t help and questionable play calling late in the 4th quarter almost cost the Chiefs a victory. There are zero excuses as to why Isaiah Pacheco did not get the ball on 3rd and 1 with a little over two minutes left. Andy Reid admitted in his post-game news conference that he should’ve called a run, but it’s little errors like that that could bite the Chiefs late in the season as this 2023 version of the Chiefs offense has no room for error.
The Defense
Now the defense played a spectacular game, shutting out the high-flying Dolphins offense in the first half capped off by a Tyreek Hill fumble which Safety Mike Edwards lateralled to fellow safety Brian Cook who took it to the house. So now as the Chiefs head into the bye week, the narrative for this 2023 team is different than in years past. The 2023 Kansas City Chiefs will go as far as their defense will take them this season and hopefully for them, it will be enough to make it back to the Super Bowl for the 4th time in 5 years.
