BREAKING NEWS: Vince McMahon retires amid misconduct allegations.
This was the big headline on July 22nd, after the now former CEO was accused of paying millions of dollars in “hush money” to various women in exchange for their silence regarding his relationships and misconduct.
After McMahon’s forced retirement, HHH, who was responsible for a lot of NXTs success over the years, assumed the role of CEO.
It has been a month since the power exchange, and so much has changed in the WWE. Members of the roster released in the last 12 months under McMahon have found their way back to the main roster in WWE. Names like Karrion Kross, Scarlett Bourdoix, Johnny Gargano, and Dexter Lumis, amongst many more names being rumored (names like Braun Stroman and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt)
HHH is still cleaning up messes left by McMahon, such as unifying the WWE and Universal titles, which has reportedly upset USA Network officials, leaving the flagship RAW without a heavyweight champion.
HHH taking over, though, has improved shows creatively. There is a lot less Austin Theory taking unnecessary selfies and talking about being McMahon’s chosen one. The women’s tag team titles have come back into the fray (congrats to Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez for being crowned the new champs)
The change was not going to happen overnight, but I truly believe this Saturday’s Clash At The Castle PPV will set the precedent for the future of the WWE under HHH, and I, for one, am excited for the future, not just for the WWE, but of professional wrestling in general.
