On top of his many individual accolades in the world of football, Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has done it again. The 35-year-old is the most expensive insured player in the world – at least only one of his body parts that are.
Messi’s left foot is more expensive than some teams in football and other sporting codes. It has been revealed that the Argentine national team captain’s left foot is $900 million insured.
According to Total Sports reports, the sum is more than Cristiano Ronaldo’s both legs and Los Angeles FC winger both insured for $99 million, while David Beckham’s face and legs are worth $175 million.
Messi’s legs have been good for him but not so much for the opposition players who will have to face him. His goals breakdown, the forward has scored most of his 748 goals with his stronger left foot, 627 to be exact, while 92 have come from his right foot.
Using his head, Messi has only managed 26 goals so far as the Argentine’s aerial threat is not as effective as that of his feet.
Messi is currently nursing an inflammation Achilles’ tendon and he was not featured for PSG 2-1 over Lorient on Sunday in Ligue 1 tie as a precautionary measure ahead of the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup. It is understood that he will resume training this week.
He is expected to again lead Argentina in Qatar as his last World Cup competition and he will push to win football’s most coveted trophy which has eluded him all through his career.
He is going to the World Cup having won Ballon d’Or seven times. Karim Benzema is the latest player to win the world’s best player award he lifted last month.
