WHIC ARIZONA STATE SUN DEVILS SHOW UP AGAINST STANFORD?

The ASU Sun Devils head to Stanford stadium, in beautiful Stanford, California for a Saturday afternoon Pac 12 showdown. The Sun Devils come into this one sitting at 2-4 after pulling off a huge upset against the Washington Huskies in week 6.

The bigger story for most ASU fans is what’s next at QB, after seeing Trenton Bourguet step in after Emory Jones was knocked out of the game because of a hit that was flagged for targeting.

Bourguet was able to make the most of his opportunity, throwing for 182 yards and 3 touchdowns on a 71.4 completion percentage. Bourguet not only made the most of his opportunity but with a 45 – 38 victory over the 21st-ranked Washington Huskies and a QBR of 126.9 we now have a good old fashion QB battle on our hands. Shaun Aguano probably didn’t picture this situation being his first shot at Head Coaching at the collegiate level. Just look at his first 3 games, as he has faced #13 Utah, #6 USC, and #21 WASH, going 1-2 over that 3-game stretch. If you are a Sun Devil fan this should give you hope that Shaun just might be able to turn this thing around, after Knocking the Huskies off at home he is 1-2 against ranked opponents this year. Now his first major decision as head coach is looming do you go with Bourguet and carry that momentum into the next outing in Stanford or go back to the Jones, who although hasn’t been able to pick up the W’s, also hasn’t played bad this year either, completing 63.6% of his passes for 1,120 yards and 4 TD’s. whichever way Ray Anderson and ASU chooses to go, the future is bright for Shaun Aguano whether its here at ASU or elsewhere, although I am hoping ASU gives Shaun the proper time to build this program from the inside out.

Preview

ASU & Stanford are sitting at 2-4, with both teams coming off a victory. Stanford defeated Notre Dame 16-14 in week 7, with their only other win coming in week 1 41 – 10 against Colgate University.  ASU as mentioned earlier is coming off a massive victory against the Washington Huskies on week 6 before going into their BYE week for week 7. Stanford comes into this one as a 3-point favorite, with both teams averaging 26.8 points a game, with Stanford giving up 29.7 points a game compared to ASU giving up 30.2 points per game.

Prediction:

ASU picks up a big victory in Washington after playing well in both its losses in week 4 and week 5. This is an opportunity to use that momentum to defeat a struggling Stanford team. I Predict ASU comes out and has a great Offense performance, which is what we have lacked in each of the losses we suffered thus far this year. The Defense has played well just about all year, and I predict more of the same this week.

ASU defeats Stanford 35 -24.
