Suns Vs Nets: Game Recap: The Big 3! Sort of….

The Vibe
So, first we must shout out the management, staff and fans at the Footprint Centre.
A double tribute was fitting. An Amazing class act by remembering, recognizing and showing the LOVE behind what “The Twins” Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson meant to us as fans.
Jon Bloom said, it’s the most handmade signs he has ever seen at a Pro Sporting event that he has covered. Signs where everywhere about the twins and our fans love for them.
Ok Game-time
The Big 3 debut. While this was the moment, we all have been waiting for, it kind of felt like a Big 2.5…. With Bradley Beal being on minutes restrictions (and rightfully so), KD coming of a “Left Ankle sprain” and not wanting to be injured further. This is a watered-down version of our full potential.
I was a fan of Metu starting. This guy plays with passion and heart. He really wants to win, just look at the way he drives the ball to the rim! He is a take no prisoners player. I Like that.
It was a game as we have seen recently. Up/Down nothing out of the usual. Glances of brilliance, glimmers of errors. Until the 4th quarter.
It used to be our 3rd quarter snooze on defense. Now it is hitting us later in the game and it’s not cool. We saw it when we faced the Warriors and Podziemski did late in the game. He goes left hand every time!
Our Big 3 did well for a 2.5ish. Booker topping the scoreboard for the team with 34 Pts/6 Reb/12 Ast. Earning his 48th career double-double. KD finishing with 27 Pts/6 Reb/4 Ast. Not bad for a dude with an ankle sprain. Beal with 14Pts and 4 Ast was great to see him back in action, and at our home, The Footprint Centre.
Then you have the sneaky one on our team.
MASKED NAS IS HERE!
Dude exploded for 10 Pts/7 Reb/3 Ast. He was on a mission.
Let’s Not Get off Track!
My biggest point I want to make right now is, the way Nurkić has been playing. We know what Book, Beal, KD, Okogie, Allen etc. are capable of. We as fans, me included, had questions about Nurkić ability to stay healthy. So far, he is the only member of the starting roster to start all the 24 games this season. He is healthy and balling out!
15 Pts/22 Reb/3 Ast. Yeah, you read that right the first time. I will be going further into what Nurkić is doing in another article so watch this space.
RESULT
A loss to the Nets 116-112
Overall, I really thought we would beat the Nets. I knew it was going to be tough. First time the Big 3 running in an actual game together, always going to be teething issues. You can’t help that.
A last beacon of hope with a Jordan Goodwin steal of the ball, led to another turnover. Our Team gave it their all! It just wasn’t enough on that day.
4th quarter close outs and turnovers are the problems we can control. The refs’ ridiculous calls we cannot. It is something we cannot control. As all survivors do, we must adapt.
I have such high hopes for this team when the playoffs roll around. We have every tool in place. We just have to get them in sync and it’s on!
Irony of this is. We traded away Mikal Bridges for pieces that have had injury problems. Bridges still has not missed a game. Almost 400 now. He is Iron Man, and I would love to see him back in our colors one day.
Onto the next match up, at Home against The Knicks. Go Suns!
